First Live Cash Game

  • Last night I played my first live cash game! I've only played live 4 times including last night, but the 3 others were all tournaments, so needless to say I was very nervous.

It was $1/$2 limit, but for some strange reason there was only 1 blind of $1. I had never seen that before. I've always seen it as blinds are $0.50/$1 or $1/$2.

I sat down with $40, and over the course of the next couple hours my stack was like a roller coaster. I got it down to $30, then up to $50, then down to $15, then up to $40, then down to $30, then I got in my "sweet spot" and got it up to $50, then $60, and eventually $81 was the highest I had. I told myself "It's your first time playing live cash games, doubling your money is very good, you need to leave!", but I was in middle position, so I told myself I would just sit and wait until the blinds hit me. But before I could leave, I got involved in a hand and got down to $68. Me being the fool I am, I told myself I could just get back to $80 and leave. This is when 2 new players sat down, and I played one hand terribly, and got sucked out on another, so I got down to $55. I figured it was time for me to leave.

So, gaining $15 is NOTHING to brag about, but I figured since it was my first time that it was a mediocre gain, plus I got to experiment and see what type of play style I want. I learned 2 main things tonight, 1) when you make double your money, leave, don't wait for the blind. and 2) It's not as easy at it sounds to just get $11 back  ;D

Overall, it was a very fun and funny experience, considering the guy at my table sharted all over his pants.....but kept playing for another 2 hours.
