I am so excited for the WSOP this year. I even put together pictures of Vegas and the WSOP as a slideshow on my computer so when my job gets me down, I look at them and my adrenaline gets going again.
During the last year, I have been really working on my poker game. I have been re-reading my favorite poker books. I also bought a few more new ones. Two of my new favorites are by Jon "Pearljammer" Turner, Eric "Rizen" Lynch & Jon "Apestyles" Van Fleet, "Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand At A Time" volumes 1&2. There is no "fluff" in these books. I wouldn't say that they contain any opinions on how I should play. They do contain valuable information on how the arthors think and play during online tournements. It has helped me think out the hans better and make better decisions at the live tables as well as online. I also belong to PokerVT and the Full Tilt Poker Academy and utilize them a lot.
My live cash game has gotten much stronger during the last year. I am excited about finding some juicy cash games! Last year I wasn't sure yet how to select a game and a table based on my playing skills. Now I know much more about it. I also know what mix of players I want at my table. I want at least 4 TAG players, 1 or 2 LAG players, 2 players that "think" that they have game (but they don't) and usually drink too much at the table, and 1 or 2 newbies (if possible). During the WSOP, this mixture is easier to find. The newbies are usually 21 year old guys at their first WSOP or their first trip to Vegas. YUMMY!
I am buying a home near Denver and am moving back to the neighborhood where I grew up about 70 miles from where we live now. We are removing old wallpaper and painting several rooms for the last 2 whole weekends. We also put up a fence in the back yard and got a new roof put on. So I have not been packing much lately since I also have a full time job. I am beat! God, I hate painting ceilings!! I want to pack our suitcases with clothes and other personal items that we will need for the next 2 weeks. Last time we moved I was crazy trying to find this stuff. But now I am also worried that I won't be able to find the stuff that I will be needing to pack for the WSOP this year. So I think I will pack a seperate bag for the WSOP now. LOL I will be there for 1 week and I will be using a single carry-on bag.
