Unfortunately the social networks forum features are not as robust as you would find in a stand-alone forum like VB or phpBB, because there's just a lot more interacting with profiles, blogs, albums, videos, profiles and so forth.
Still, we can look to increase the forum functionality as we go along, so thanks for mentioning this :)
