Hey all Just an FYI. I live 10mins from the sun. There are 2 other hotels that aren't more than 5 mins from the casino. I bet there rates are definetly more reasonable and are much much closer than staying at foxwoods. They are Microtel Inn & suites 860-367-0880 and Best western Cristata Inn 888-863-7847 or 860-848-0660 direct. Literally u can see the casino from these places. I think both may even offer shuttle service to the sun. And as far as meeting I plan on being in and as far as attire goes I would be interested in a hat. If there are any other questions about the area please feel free to post here or message me. I will do my best to help anyone interested.

Hey Bob and Jim, sounds great. Jim, thanks for the info on the other hotel locations. Someone had mentioned to me there might be a Best Western nearby.

Looks like the vast majority of attendees would be commuting so far.

Looking forward to meeting Jenn! You can also add Mojo to the list, she wouldn't miss it.

As far as the rooms go, we usually go during the week and pay little or nothing. The highest I have paid was $49 a night but played enough that they end up comping that too. Weekend fill up fast and they do the $250 a night. We have never been able to gt a deal on weekend. If I remember correctly, the off site holtels we right around $120 per night.

This is shaping up to be one heck of a gathering with around 15 folks so far (which I know is only the tip of the iceberg for this thing)

Right now Mohegan has only updated their event page with info on satellites for the main event of the NAPT series and I still don't know what other events are on the list.

I'll try to pry that info from them on the 21st when I have my conference call, if they don't have it up on their site by then :)

I expect that $340 will be the smallest buyin event, based on what I saw of the Venetian schedule of events for the NAPT.

But each venue may be different, so it's possible they'll have a more affordable tourney than even that. Regardless, even if you aren't playing the tourney you can meetup with everyone, there will be plenty of members hitting the cash games, etc.

I'm in for sure....

Sent you a PM, but I have a pretty decent relationship with MANY poker room employees - including the poker host (who is the guy to talk to if you need something - TRUST ME - he gets the job done)... had a small run in with Rick, the tourney director last week, but i think i effectively let him know who's boss. lol POINT IS - if you need help with the camera access, room comps, perks, bennys, whatever... i may be able to assist. ;)

POKER GEAR? Yes.
STAYING OVERNIGHT? If the incentive is there. wink wink (kidding) Yes.
SCHEDULE OF AVAILABILITY? Makes no diff... i'll prob be there when u arrive; sucking on crappy coffee & threatening the tourney director. LOL

Lol, I spoke with Bruce and Rick today and they just have to confirm with Stars that it's ok for us to do video and pics from the event, but they were ok with it.

If we need any help with room comps or perks and can't get them I'll definitely let you know. As far as the "incentives" to stay overnight, I'm only 5'1" tall (short) and while my wife is happy, she did marry me, so her standards are pretty low. Plus, I'm kinda holding my "get out of infidelity card" for those asian triplets in schoolgirl uniforms with a penchant for violence ;)

Regarding the schedule of events I was told that is being worked on presently but should be available by late next week. Then I'll let everyone know what our plans are for the meetup!

We have gone to mohegan quite a bit over the years and now get free rooms between Sunday and Thursday so if you do stay at the casino they will give you discounts next time. The more you stay, the better deals. One time they were sold out and we were put on the VIP floor. Now that was cool lol. But I can't get back there even if I beg. We're not high roller enough. :p

Before there was a hotel at mohegan, we stayed at the Ramada - which is now the Holiday Inn I think. Only 3 miles away with a shuttle. Not sure the prices right now but I can recommend it.

Thanks for the update Mojo. It looks like most attendants will be commuting and not staying over. But for those who are staying it's great there are some other options available pricewise
