  Local charity event was tonight and the competition was SUPER soft, saw a ton of my friends there and got pics and video, but a bit beat to edit it and do up the blog post just yet.
  
  Suffice to say I was extremely upset with how poorly marketed this event was.  Everything we saw, from their Facebook event to the ticket itself said $60 No Limit Texas Hold Em Tournament.
  
  When I get there I overhear one of the guys say something about rebuys, so I inquire and I'm told there are rebuys for the first HOUR AND A HALF of gameplay  
  
  I tell him that no one mentioned anything about that to me and he asks who I heard about the event from, was it the Pop Warner people?  And when I say yes he blames it on them for not telling me (he represented a youth bowling league as it was a joint event)
  
  So I turn around and say "but it doesn't say anything about rebuys on your ticket......"
  
  His response:
  
  "We didn't advertise that"
  
  
  
  Are you f'ing kidding me?  How can you NOT advertise there are rebuys for 1.5 hours after the event starts?  A shit ton of people I told about the event were expecting a $60 freezeout and find out that not only do they have to deal with a fast structure (expected, since it's a charity event) but also unlimited $40 rebuys, even though by the time rebuys are ending you're getting 2500 chips and blinds are 300/600 (L-oh-fucking-L)
  
  I have no problem supporting a charity, but at least be upfront about shit like that.  Maybe people would bring along more money if they knew, or maybe some people wouldn't have played at all if they were aware of the setup.
  
  At least they supplied dedicated dealers at each table and a HUGE spread of food (pizzas, pastries, chips, etc)
  
  Still, it just felt really shady to have such an important detail left off the "advertising"
  
  Alright, I need some rest, but I'll try to get the video edited and a blog post up within a couple of days.

  If I didn't want to play a rebuy event I would have asked for a refund and left. There is no excuse for something like this. 60.00 buyin with 40.00 rebuys for 1 and 1/2 hour will be VERY EXPENSIVE unless you get lucky and contuously chip up. If it's like the rebuys I play in locally, 60.00 entry and 20.00 rebuys, you can rebuy once right away, twice after 20 minutes if you bust, 3 times after 40 minutes if you bust and 4 times in the final 20 minutes if you bust so you can see how expensive it might be. I shudder to think what it might cost in your tournament if you are unlucky and this same rebuy format is used.

  The tickets were labeled "no refunds" and it was for charity, so kinda hard to get a refund at that point. But I agree, it makes no sense for them not to advertise the rebuy portion, that's a pretty important issue to make players aware of.
  
  What's funny is I ran into the girl who invited me and asked if she knew about the rebuys and she told me "yeah". But it was never put into the facebook event she created or on the tickets the bowling group printed, so both sides of the charity failed to reveal these important details.
  
  When I was leaving she was like "at least next time you play you'll know it's rebuys!" (cause they plan to hold these every few months now). Clearly there won't be a "next time" for me on this one.

  They brought the whole new meaning to the word charity.more like were goona ass rape you into donating a shit load of money.Were are peoples morales at anymore......................

  I do have to point out that "some" people who attended the event were aware there were rebuys, but there was a good chunk of people who weren't, including people I personally invited to attend, thinking it was a $60 freezeout.
  
  Likewise, some of the people I ran into that weren't aware of the rebuy issue also invited others under the same premise.
