It seems the farther I'm ahead the less likely the hand holds up. what really pisses me off is that he donk bets into me twice with the worst hand and they have to of course reward the stupid fucking donk.

It's 0.25/0.50 limit hold em, of course you're going to come up against a donkey trying to throw money at you.

I visited one of those NH cardrooms a few years back and played a limit hold em table while I waited for the tournament to start.

There was this one old guy that kept getting the best of me every hand and I always had him too. If I had KQ against KJ I'd lose. If I had AK against AJ he'd win, etc. It was pretty disgusting.

What was hilarious was the final table of the tourney. There was a young kid with a MASSIVE chip lead over everyone, and he agreed to end the money bubble and allow everyone to get their buyin back, effectively killing his ability to punish people on the $$$ bubble.

Lol, NH. Every time I've made a FT up there someone would want to pay 2 more places. If I was short of course I would go along with it but if I didn't think I would bubble I'd say no and would they all get pissed over it.

Thats par for the course in limit... Not really even a bad beat.... Open raising a weak suited Ace from MP1 is even somewhat questionable.....

Dude not only did have have an Ace he had a suited card with it. Even without the flush draw he's in for the long haul. :)

It's funny, the first post I read today was about a limit game. Yesterday, I spend almost all my poker hours at the low limit cash tables. I find it does no good to PF raise, unless I have a premium-premium hand. And the limit players hold every ace like gold, so the fact that he bet that way is pretty standard - even with his extra weak kicker.

I cashed out, down, only once yesterday and it was after losing to someone who called a flop re-raise and a bet on every street with a gut shot to hit his straight. But, that's the way those players do it. Hang in, no matter what to hit their long shot.

Depends on what you consider "good". It's never bad to get your money in while you're ahead. If you consider a raise successful only if it folds out other players, you're usually going to be disappointed if you're playing limit. But adding to a pot with the best hand, even if it's 60/40, will pay off long term provided you play the later streets correctly.

I see this dozens of times in low limit holdem. If someone has top pair you won't raise them off a hand. Just no way possible especially on that board.

I wasn't mad he didn't fold, in fact why would I want a huge dog to fold. I was just mad that after flopping top pair and nut flush draw and then turning 2 pair, then to lose to 3 outs. Six keeps telling me to move up and play NL so I can "protect" my hand. Why do I have to bet big and force a huge dog to fold to protect a hand that is a huge favorite to win? That makes no sense.

That's not at all what I said. I said that if you can't handle variance at NL, why would you go play limit where it's worse? Your temperament isn't suited to it, and you're gonna spend even more time tilty.

Not so six. I've been less tilty playing limit. With NL if I lost a hand like that and my entire buy-in it would be tilt city.

And you're ten times less likely at NL to take a beat like that for stacks. Villain would have to be awful to get in that bad at NL, and in limit it's pretty standard. But here we are...

There are different stages of tilt. There's the throw your keyboard through the monitor raging tilt like a stacking at NL gives you, and the slow burn of smaller and more rapidly occuring beats like limit. But whether you're one or the other, you're not right, and your skill edge can't take much of a hit to lose money.

The real litmus test is: Are you losing more money at NL or at limit? If you can confidently say you're better off playing limit at a comparable level, I'll drop it right now. I see a lot of beat threads coming from you lately, though...

I'm down on PS the same amount I'm up at FT. But it's insignificant right now because I'm nursing a small roll on both hoping to build and move up. Actually, after watching AJ go on monkey tilt last weekend has helped me put stuff in perspective.
