I have actually never seen a modern 3-D film -- has the effects gotten better with them?? or am I still watching a movie in half blue/half red??

They're excellent! The only movie I don't suggest you see in 3D is Clash of the Titans, the way it was done was terrible. If you want to see a good 3D movie, make it Iron Man 2.

Story was a bit contrived and VERY cliche, borrowing heavily from many other movies, including the Kevin Costner Robin Hood flick (they re-used the "you smell" or "take a bath" line) Maybe that was a nod to the Costner flick, but more likely it was just Hollywood unoriginality at its finest.

While I missed the final battle scene(s), I did read a review that touched on the amount of cliches the flick had, including the classic "Noooooooo!" scream from Russel Crowe that I missed later in the flick.

I didn't find the amount I watched to be a bad film, just lacked originality and the characters fit the typical archetypes with a bit of overacting from Crowe and the new King of England that replaced The Lion Heart after he fell in battle.

Just another average film that tries to stand on impressive visuals without having any real substance, imo. Perhaps seeing the final 30-40 minutes of the flick would change my mind, but I'm doubtful.

In regards to Howard The Duck, obviously sarcasm, although I got a kick out of the flick so consider it a guilty pleasure of mine.

The Hurt Locker - 8/10

Wasn't a half bad movie based on the daily lives of soldiers who are in charge of removing IED devices. Talk about a job you would not want to have. It was a pretty solid look at what those soldiers go through daily for an entire year and what kind of person you have to be to participate in that line of work. Not your average war movie at all though, as it shows more of the real side of war rather then the "action" side of what happens. If you don't like War movies though, stay away.

I finally watched "The Blind Side" and "The Hangover" last night
Blindside is a 9/10 for sure -- great story -- and I love football
Hangover is a 8/10 for sure -- very funny -- and just pictured my butt getting into that kinda trouble back in the day. loved the location shots too.

MacGruber - 9/10 - One of the funniest movies I've seen since The Hangover. It's stupid and raunchy comedy, but oh is it awesome. Definite recommendation.

Prince of Persia - 8/10 - I like how the plot played out, not to mention Gemma is a total cutie. I'd recommend it if you like a movie with a nice plot.

I just saw The Hurt Locker the other day. Acting and visuals were great, storyline was ok. I prefer a bit more action myself.

I've heard criticisms from folks in the military, saying a guy like the main character who's all gung-ho on the bomb diffusing would be dealt with in their unit because he'll get everyone killed.

I definitely felt like the scene where the three soldiers all split up and run down an alley hunting after a guy was weaksauce. Fastest way to get yourself killed in a foreign warzone is to split up and not have buddies watching your back, but instead run solo in the middle of the night down an alley.

My buddy who was over in Iraq said the movie was great and it reminded him of being over there. Overall I'd give it a 7.5/10.

It was above average compared to the garbage that is being put out today. With quality acting and visuals it was certainly enjoyable. But the "hollywooding" of the flick removed any suspension of disbelief, they took it too far off how I would expect a unit to operate in a war zone if they expected to not get themselves killed.

Then again, I've heard there are some crazy soldiers over there who might do things like this, so who knows? I certainly don't have (or want) first-hand experience.

You would be surprised, I've read a lot of real life war based books and a lot of them always talk about "cowboy" soldiers. I am sure it's not the case always but I would not be surprised if an IED specialist was like this. You would have to be semi-nuts to do that job imo. Plus the one guy did punch him to get his message across.

I think you actually see the main character develop from the start to finish though which was pretty much a large part of what the movie was about (to being a loose cannon, to becoming a responsible soldier). Also it showed that some of these guys can't live a normal life which happens to a lot to Soldiers when they come back. I thought the movie whilst Hollywood at some points was a pretty solid view of what they must go through with out actually being there.

Fracture - 8/10 - Very interesting movie. I like the plot twists they involve. Anthony Hopkins makes this movie. It kinda reminds me of Law Abiding Citizen.

Get Him To The Greek - 7.5/10 - Funny moments, but basically the same shit over and over. The plot could use some more depth.

While I laugh everytime I see the preview where Jonah Hill gets stabbed with the adrenaline and his body just rises up while he screams "I'm alive!" I absolutely cannot stand Russel Brandt and figured anything with him as a primary character would blow chunks.

I suffered through him in Forgetting Sarah Marshall because the other actors onboard were solid. But in the case of Get Him To The Greek, Diddy just ain't going to cut it

Yeah, without Jonah Hill this movie would be pretty shit. And when he gets stabbed with the adrenaline needle, thats when the funniest parts of the movie begin. But I wouldn't recommend watching this one.

Splice - 5/10 - The worst movie I've seen this year, and for a long time. I'll admit I didn't go there with the highest expectations, but still, I expected a typical 7/10 movie. Not this time. If you REALLY wanna see Splice still, then go to google, and find the WEIRDEST porn you can find. And watch it, add in a little drama music, and bingo, you've got Splice.

Finally watched the movie Funny People, so yeah.

Funny People - 6.5/10 - There were some funny parts, and some great actors are in this movie, Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Aziz Ansari. But in my opinon, they made the movie way too long, I mean 2.5 hours!? It would have been better if there was less Adam Sandler chasing the woman, and a little more of Seth Rogen chasing his girl. But overall, they didn't put in the correct amount of comedy to go along with the 2.5 hour run time.

Speaking of Aziz Ansari, if you want some good stand up comedy check him out. He has a DVD out called "Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening", and it's amazing. Best Buy is having a deal on it right now, it's only like $13 or something around that. Check it out!

Seven Pounds - 8/10 - To start off with, I'm a big Will Smith fan, in my opinion, he rarely does a shitty movie. This was just an amazing drama overall. The ending (won't spoil it), in itself was just beautiful. If you want to watch a very good drama that will make you think, watch this movie.

I've seen this guy on numerous tv shows and have not found him even a litle funny

he tries too hard, like Seinfeld, just a crappy actor always smirking and not entertaining....more annoying in my experience
