TOYS 4 KIDS DONATIONS THREAD

Just letting everyone know that 2p2 msnl regs are donating money to buy toys for kids in need/from poor families so they can't afford much. Most of us are so fortunate and there are soo many out there who literally have nothing. Any amount helps, dont think about it, just do it.

The deadlines Dec 14, so hurry people!

I am organising a charity effort to help sick and poor children this christmas.

It's very simple, you donate money, we go and buy toys and make sure they get to kids who need them. The plan at the moment is to help children in the U.S.A. Canada and the U.K.

closing deadline for donations is 14th December, if you would like to specifically send your donation to just one of the countrys listed above thats fine just let me know, if you want your screen name kept private thats fine also just pm me so I know.

Photos will be posted assuming we get enough donations to make this worth while.

Yeah -- why not send legit charity links then? Sorry, I don't need a "middle man" to give to a charity for the holidays.

Seems like a scam to me.

Cus its a lot easier for poker players to just send money via poker sites to 1 guy who will sort it all out? The money will be split 3 ways towards Canda, US, and UK, unless specified. Not sure about US and UK, but for the Canada share, we have a guy whose physically gonna buy to toys and drop them off a charity, so we cut the admin costs.

Fwiw, if you donate $100 to a charity, only a chunk of it would actually go towards helping the cause, a lot of it is swallowed up in admin fees.

And a lot of people can vouch for sparky999. I only offered my services as middle man because PN is more familiar to me, and just as much people would vouch for me.

Its great if you can give to a charity for the holidays Ronin, but you can leave if you're just trolling.

I can certainly understand why people would be hesitant, since there have been people before who've used poker communities to get "donations" for a variety of causes (including someone who claimed a family member had cancer) when they just had a gambling problem.

I am not saying that's the case here, I like Calvin and don't think he'd do something like that. I'm not familiar with the person at 2p2 involved with this. But I will say, as Ronin mentioned, that it's generally safer to give directly to a registered charity than an unknown single individual via an online transfer.

I think it's a great idea although I too would need to know the recipient a little better before donating.

However, if anyone here can afford to give something this Christmas then they should try and make someone's life a little better over the festive season.

Not sure about anywhere else, but over here many supermarkets will accept toys which are donated to local children who would get little otherwise. If you can give something, you should!

That's kinda what i did today with "Toys for Tots" -- i was out buying for the neices and nephew -- they were collecting -- so I bought a small toy for them. It's not much, but at least some kid will have something to open.

For those who are on the edge of donating but are unsure of the recipient, sparky999 is a reputable mid-high stakes fullring on FT and am well known within the fullring community, have done many 5 figure transactions with people from 2+2, bought and sold action in the staking forum etc. I do not know sparky personally but a lot of reputable people have vouched for him, and even more has donated. Do you think any regs would donate without thinking the guys legit?

If this somehow turns out to be a scam (0% chance) I will personally reimburse any donations from PN and also match that with a donation for the same amount to any charity of your choice, up to 3k.

It turns out we've donated over 5k, which is great for our first year starting this. Not as much as Viffer raised last year when he got 25k+ in donations, but hey we aren't a well known high stakes pro =P

Thats trolling. You question and try to undermine the legitimacy of the charity without any legitimate reasoning. Do you think its a scam because I'm a known past scammer? Or I have a stellar reputation on 2p2? Or is it because you think the guy organizing the charity (who has made 200k+ from poker), wants to risk his reputation, and the reputation of the many regs who has vouched for him, to try and scam few thousand dollars by faking a toy drive for needy children?

Trolling is a term used widely across the internet. It's basically when someone messes with another person simply to get a reaction out of them.

Everyone needs to chill out...if you're going to donate, then donate, if not, no need to be in the thread.

Jordan that is not what I was doing. Once again, I just had concerns. But for some reason I take the hits, and get called lame things. I just was merely concerned about the premise.

I wasn't saying you were trolling, just explaining your question....wasn't taking a shot at you at all.

I can understand your concern. I'd say the best thing to do is just go to the thread linked and see what people say about sparky, and if you feel he's legit, you can donate. Calvinzorr also generously provided us with a sort of guarantee - reimbursement.

I offered to transfer a dollar -- every little bit helps -- I have of course more than that in my real life bankroll -- I am a live player -- I only have 58 dollars on Tilt cause I can't deposit and have to just grind what i have for free.

And once again I kinda need his Tilt name to do that.

You did not raise any intelligent concerns about the legitimacy of the charity by saying "seems like a scam to me". You want to see concern being raised thats not trollish? Check AJ's post. And you say you dont troll? Should I remind you about how our "beef" started? Or why you were banned from sixandfourum?

And on behalf of the charity, we do not accept your sarcastic $1 donation. If you did donate to "Toys for Tots", thats great.
