I was sitting outside on the back porch the other night. Just thinking. Our back fenceline faces a church parking lot. We have critters we see roaming about from time to time-- but recently there's been a cat that has been coming around. He keeps coming around.
Now I don't know if it's a wild cat or just one cast out by people. He's not friendly enough to come up to us, but he does stay near us.
So I am out there the other night, and see him again -- right in the parking lot. The street lamb casting light on him. He's just sitting there, head moving around looking.
He looked lonely.
I just watched. Then I realized, he looked like a poker player.
He was doing what decent players do.
Observing.
He was a little affraid, but he kept watching -- the sight made me think of when I'm in a big live hand. or even just playing Live.
Poker is a weird beast -- the challenge is fun, and the money can be great. but that cat reminded me how lonely it can be.

That's interesting, I never thought of it that way, but cats are phenomenal observers of behavoir, and very patient as well. Someone should make a "play poker like a cat" guide :P
That's probably a good idea. The sight just struck me that night. Kinda reminded me of how I sometimes feel in tourneys.
He was all alone, but observing everything -- actually he did see me -- but from afar. Probably thought I was a fish when i min-raised and put me All-in. :)
He did actually win -- I felt bad and gave him some of Rio's food. I shipped it LOL.
