you only see 5 posts per page now? I had to look back 9 pages to see anything poker related that was new/replied too can you do anything about this?

The Dev Team is working on changing how the New Posts work. The old way it displays the most recent posts, without taking into consideration if you've already viewed that thread and its most recent posts.

So the idea is to get us to a point where the new posts remembers what you've seen, and only shows you new posts that you haven't read yet, not ALL new posts.

Alright, they submitted the change, although I don't think it will affect older posts that were already on the forum, only newer ones. But you should start noticing a change with the display of new posts to accurately reflect what is new for YOU and not just new for everyone.

You'll need to use the forum a bit for it to be more apparent.

1st page of new posts seems to be showing only posts you haven't seen the titles of before.... ie: if you've seen the title of a thread, but not even actually opened it it doesn't show

I just clicked new posts a min ago and only 1 entry came up

EDIT: everything else is there, it's just on page 2, 3, 4 ect....

Not exactly, at least not for me paint. For example, I noticed an update to the 5 year old grandson is a jokester thread in my New Posts.

I then went to General Discussions, where I can see the title of that thread as well, but didn't click it.

It still appears in my New Posts page, since I've never viewed the most recent update. So it appears to be working ok with everything that is being posted since the Dev Team implemented the change, for me anyway.

wtf....I just posted here and I come back and it's gone.....

anyhow..right after reading your last post here I clicked "new posts" and nothing shows up.....an empty page 1 of new posts... (maybe it's got some time factor attached to how it works ?)

if i click on number for page 2 or 3 or beyond then there's 27 pages of posts....just page 1 is blank

It won't display new posts if you've already seen them (i.e. your own post in this thread?)

I believe the changes mean that any threads you were originally subscribed too won't update you until you post in the again (i.e. resubscribe?)

So it'll probably take a day or two for peoples new posts to get updated appropriately as they use the boards more. But moving forward it should be a lot more useful

I just went to the 'new posts' and there is absolutely nothing there even though there have been posts since the last time i was on the site.

I see New Posts that are being made (just saw four different threads) Since it's a new change, I believe the database has to snag some data about your forum use and viewing/posting activities before it will work (i.e. don't expect it to work immediately)

Give it a day where you're active on the boards and if it's still an issue repost here with anything specific (i.e. are there some new posts showing but not all, is there a specific section of the boards not displaying, etc?) and I can report to the Dev Team to investigate.

Yea, i see new posts, but as you look at the posts the page will deplete.... thus at the moment i have 6 topics left... page 2 is full and etc.

my first page is officially empty, now i have to go to page 2 for posts... will notify if it goes to 2 being blank..

i think it must have some time elapsed function attached to it...

same thing here..I just signed back on for first time in 5 or 6 hours...when I logged on and checked new posts there was like 10 or so.....without checking any of them, 5 minutes later only 3 or 4 new posts on 1st page

I think the "new posts" on 1st page are "expiring" after an elaspsed time

maybe programmers misunderstood the concept ...thinking "new" posts meant new in time parameters rather than in "viewed" (by the specific user) parameters...

I noticed some of dev team are from Mr Ps part of the world .....maybe a language barrier thing ?

I'll point them to this thread and see if they have any variables that are affecting this. So far I'm seeing a lot more New Posts using IE8.

If those having trouble can list browser version and type, perhaps there will be a common denominator?

I think most every forum software out there will remove from the new posts anything you've already seen.

This way you don't run the risk of having tons of threads get pushed out of being seen because more active threads that people have already read stay at the forefront.

With the old way of displaying new posts, there were often times I completely missed new threads because of this.

So we're just trying to make our software comparable to what everyone is accustomed too in other communities. No sense in deviating from this, it's a standard that people expect.

I prefered the old system, It wasn't broke don't understand why it needed to be fixed?

Perhaps you could do something in addition to this to highlight the 10 hotest topics etc...

From what I can tell:

1. Not all notification emails are being sent (some come through, but some definetely aren't)

2. The "new posts" aren't displaying everything that's new. For instance, I post a thread and I see there was a reply 10 minutes or 2 hours ago and it may or may not appear in the New Posts section.

I've submitted this issue to the Dev Team so it can be addressed.

As far as liking the old system, the old system is absolutely nothing like other forum software people will be used too. One of our goals is to ensure that this site is as simple and familiar to use as things that people are already accustomed too (facebook, myspace, vbulletin, etc)

So it makes sense for us to keep along a similar usage protocal, rather than reinvent the wheel.

The problem, Chato, is let's say I just posted in five different threads. Even though I've already read everything in there and I'm up to date on the content of those threads, in the old format, they were still appearing in my New Posts page.

So I wind up having a bunch of posts that aren't actually "new" for me. The idea here is that if you've read a thread, you're up to date with it, and it should disappear from your New Posts until another reply has been made in it.

This way other threads you might miss are moved up in your New Posts (again, the previous format those were getting pushed down because you were seeing threads you've already read the most recent posts in)

I think there are still some kinks in the new system, so bear with it while the Dev Team works to make it right.
