Ronin1085 .

Sorry I haven't been active much -- still dealing with a lot of family issues. Did play in a couple home games. Final table both, but was bubble boy each time.

Ian Ross I think it's good news for US players too, but there are bound to be a few twists and turns along the way to full legal clarity and legalised online gaming in the US. Going to be an interesting year though!!

  • When I found out I am not a poker player -- the saga continues

    Posted May 20, 2011

So I wake up the next morning, after a night of lori snoring. It's about 8:30 am.  The horse was not amused by the snoring, but then he saw this in the room safe:     So life was a bit better.   I get up looking forward to the poker tourney day. Once again, we pig out...

  • When I found out I'm not a poker player. My B-day vacation

    Posted May 18, 2011

It started off as a rainy Michigan day. Lori for my birthday booked a trip for 2 days at the Soaring Eagle casino in Mt. Pleasent, Michigan -- about a 2 hour drive from where we live.   We went on sunday the 15th on my B-day, and there was a poker tourney on monday.   We arrived, and i...

    1. First I'd pay the person who staked me their cut. (I'm not going to pay 10k to battle 8,000 people).  So that leaves me about 4 million.

    2. Then pay the taxes which then leaves me about 2 million.

So the real question for me would be: "What would you do with 2 million?"

    1. Pay off bills -- but since I don't have very many, then that's not a bad hit.

    2. Maybe give my Dad and Sis a bonus (no more than 50k a peice) I am frugal, but want to help out some.

That leaves me about 1.9 million.

    3. Pay off Lori's house -- another 60k

    Down to 1.3 million.

    4. See what free-rolls sponsers will give me to tour being the WSOP Main event Champ. Do that for the first year. You basically only get one year in the spotlight until they move on to the next champ. Joe Cada who?

    5. After that, defend my title and most likely bust out early.

So back to my 1.3 million.

    6. Travel a bit, maybe even rent a place in Vegas (which is real cheap these days because the housing market sucks there) estimated cost: 100k

    Down to 1.2 million

So is 1.2 million left life-changing? not really, but it would be a fun first year. After that, I'd have to be very smart with it, and come back to reality.

  • Who is cooler??
    Posted June 17, 2011
AJ posed a question on playing flopped 9's late in a tourney with an overcard on the board. Ian (aka the mad Scot) and Ronin (the guy with the horse) both said fold. The 9's didn't work. And the Scot and horseman were correct.
