Ian, I know what you mean. The Gov always designs a program to turn to the right when we should be turning left. Besides, they"re so busy with their photo ops and re-election they don't have time to do the job we pay them to do, but they sure as hell take the "perks" and "comps" generously. I think they should just legalize it and stay the hell out of it, otherwise we'll have to set up 3 more "watchdog" committees, who have probably never played poker in their life, along with a bunch of "tax men" to monitor our computers and accounts. This will of course, cause the need to build them a few Federal buildings, buy them all expensive new office furniture, expense accounts and cars, and hire them an overly ample bunch of "civil servant gatekeepers" to protect them from us knowing what they're really doing. (or not doing in the case of Mineral Management). You cannot speak to an authority figure on the phone anymore, but just "tweet" them. And don't worry.... it's all in your best interest. Oh.....I forgot..... the watchdogs are there "to protect the children" so it's OK if they have to infringe just a tad more on our privacy and personal life....... again.
